VRC partners with the Australian Childhood Foundation for Pin & Win

31 January 2022 Written by VRC

The Victoria Racing Club (VRC) is proud to announce the Australian Childhood Foundation as the new Pin & Win charity partner for 2022.

The Australian Childhood Foundation is a leading not-for-profit organisation supporting children to recover from the trauma of abuse and family violence.  The Foundation provides specialist therapeutic support to children to help them heal and feel safe, as well as educating and empowering communities to safeguard children.

This is the first time the Australian Childhood Foundation will partner with the VRC for Pin & Win, an initiative established in 1995 to give charities the platform to raise funds through the sale of Lexus Melbourne Cup souvenir pins.

The Australian Childhood Foundation is the 16th charity to partner with the VRC, with money raised from the Pin & Win partnership to go towards the Foundation’s National Trauma Recover Program.

VRC Chief Executive Officer, Steve Rosich, said the club was delighted to welcome the Australian Childhood Foundation as the new Pin & Win charity partner.

“Pin and Win is the VRC’s major annual fundraising activity and we are delighted to partner with the Australian Childhood Foundation for the first time. The partnership will help the Foundation protect children and restore their childhood through relationships that guide, support and help children living with trauma heal,” Mr Rosich said.

“We look forward to raising funds for the Foundation through the Pin & Win and through other Flemington initiatives throughout the year.”

The Australian Childhood Foundation Chief Executive Officer, Dr Joe Tucci said the charity was grateful to partner with the VRC.

“We are delighted to be partnering with the VRC. This partnership will enable the Australian Childhood Foundation to provide specialist support to children and families who need it the most.  Children cannot heal by themselves, which is why this partnership with the VRC is so significant. It will allow children, young people and families to have the opportunity to experience a future that is no longer defined by the trauma they have experienced,” Dr Tucci said.

To mark the new Pin & Win partnership, all funds raised from the VRC’s Love Letter to Racing event on Australian Guineas Day on Saturday 5 March will go towards the Australian Childhood Foundation.

Love Letter to Racing is an annual charity event hosted by 3AW’s Ross Stevenson and features five renowned guests reading aloud their penned ‘Love Letter to Racing’. Speakers this year include Lord Mayor Sally Capp, champion jockey Glen Boss, Chief Executive Mushroom Group Matt Gudinski, Channel 7 presenter Jacqui Felgate and Richmond FC Legend Kevin Bartlett.

The official Pin & Win campaign will commence in early September, with pins available at Flemington and a range of retail outlets.
